Winter 2014 Tea Tasting Workshops

We are excited to announce our tea tasting workshop series!

Do you want to learn about & experience the true flavors of tea?

Then join us for our educational, interactive & fun tea tasting workshops!

Our series of fifteen workshops provides a guided exploration through the vast world of loose leaf tea and herbal tisanes, meant for the novice or connoisseur alike. During each workshop, we will journey to tea-producing countries around the world to experience their unique teas and cultural traditions, learn how to truly taste tea, and unlock the secrets of proper preparation methods for each tea type. A flight of six different teas will be tasted and discussed in each workshop:

Loose Leaf Tea for Beginners - Tuesday, January 28th
New to loose leaf tea or want to refresh on the basics? Then this workshop is for you! Learn about what is & is not tea, the different types of tea, preparation tools & methods, health benefits, caffeine, and more.

Introduction to Tea Appreciation - Tuesday, February 4th
Overview of tea types, identifying typical characteristics, factors that affect quality & characteristics, analyzing the leaf & the liquor, terminology.

Black Teas - Tuesday, February 11th
Wonderful & rich black teas of China, India & Sri Lanka.

Green Teas - Tuesday, February 18th
Famous green teas of China & Japan.

Oolongs - Tuesday, February 25th
The most complex of all the teas - oolongs of Taiwan & China.

White & Yellow Teas - Tuesday, March 4th
Rare white & yellow teas of China & beyond.

Pu-er & Other Dark Teas - Tuesday, March 11th
Unique Pu-ers of the Yunnan Province, China & other dark tea-producing regions.

Scented & Flavored Teas - Tuesday, March 18th
Traditional scented teas of China, understanding flavored teas.

Teas of China - Tuesday, March 25th
Where it all began - blacks, greens & oolongs from around China.

Teas of Japan - Tuesday, April 1st
Full spectrum of the varied styles of greens from Japan & a few special surprises.

Teas of India & Sri Lanka - Tuesday, April 8th
Wonderful teas from Darjeeling, Assam, Nilgiri & island nations.

Teas from Other Origins - Tuesday, April 15th
Amazing teas from outside the 5 traditional tea-producing countries, including those from Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand & Kenya.

Herbal Basics - Tuesday, April 22nd
The basics of drinking herbs – definition, variety, preparation, uses & cautions.

Herbals of South Africa & India - Tuesday, April 29th
Rooibos, Honeybush,& Tulsi - their health benefits & cultural significance.

Herbals of the Americas & Beyond- Tuesday, May 6th
Yerba Maté, Guayusa, & more - their health benefits & cultural significance.

Registration Information
Workshops will begin promptly at 7:30PM & will last for 90 minutes.
Cost is $25 per person pre-paid - save 10% on 3 or more workshops per person.
Registration is required & space is limited, so please sign up early! Attending each workshop is not required - just sign up for the ones that interest you the most. No refunds after registration, unless your spot can be filled.
